Kate Lewin is very proud to have been the Headteacher of Hooe Primary Academy since 2020; it is a very friendly, community-focused school. Everyone who is part of the Hooe Primary Academy community strives to be the best they can be – a great ethos to have. The school are happy, passionate about learning and ambitious. She came to Hooe Primary Academy and taught her first Year 3 class in 2001, following class teacher roles in Ermington and Dartmouth previously.
Throughout her time at Hooe Primary Academy, she has been fortunate to teach in every year group and held the roles of both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two leader before becoming Deputy Headteacher. Kate has always thoroughly enjoyed watching the progress made by the children in her classes but believes her most rewarding role was that of SENCo. At present Kate is the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children and Early Career Induction Tutor. She is the Reading and Computing curriculum leader with shared responsibility for PSHE and Well-being and this year, Kate is teaching the Year Six class one day a week.
