Keith Smithers is a passionate and caring leader. He trained to teach at Rolle College (University of Plymouth) graduating in 2007. Keith has been the Headteacher of Elburton Primary School since 2019. Prior to this, he had Assistant Headteacher roles in Plymouth and in Cheltenham. During his progression from class teacher to Headship, Keith taught in each of the primary school key stages including Early Years, KS1 and KS2.

Keith ensures that the development of each child’s social, emotional and health education is a high priority alongside ensuring each child has the very highest standard of academic education. In order for this to happen, Keith develops strong links with community partners and works closely with parents and stakeholders in the school and wider trust. The personal development of each child both within the classroom and through extracurricular clubs/opportunities is a key driver at Elburton Primary School.
