Ruth is the Director of Plymouth Teachers and Schools Alliance (PTSA) and leads the organisations work, including Initial Teacher Education, managing PTSAs’ School Direct Programme, School to School Improvement work, leadership and teacher professional development as well as representing PTSA as a strategic delivery partner of the regional Teaching School Hub. Ruth also leads Teaching and Learning across a large neighbouring MAT here in the South West. A secondary Design & Technology teacher by training, via Teach First and Oasis Multi Academy Trust, Ruth now works as part of the MAT’s central school improvement team supporting 22 schools, primary and secondary to engage and implement evidence informed pedagogy and curriculum best practice. Ruth also leads on MAT wide training and professional development at all levels, from early career teachers through to headship – with a particular interest and expertise in instructional coaching. As a Learning Academies Trust Trustee and Director of Curriculum, Ruth brings a breadth of educational expertise and is committed to ensuring every child has access to the very best education and opportunities no matter what the starting point.
