Vicky Broughton is the Headteacher of Widewell Primary Academy, a single form entry primary school with Nursery situated in the northern part of Plymouth. Under her leadership, the school thrives on 12 acres of expansive grounds, featuring a large sports field, a woodland conservation area, and various play spaces designed to foster both recreational and adventurous play. Widewell Primary serves a diverse community that includes families from the local areas of Widewell, Belliver, and Southway, with a notable focus on supporting service families.
Vicky is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging among service children within the wider school community. She has implemented bespoke support, events and clubs specifically designed to meet the needs of children from military families, underpinning her commitment to support their pastoral and academic progress. Alongside this, Vicky encourages a collaborative approach to ensure that every child at Widewell Primary reaches their full potential within a positive and nurturing educational environment. In addition, Vicky works closely with her staff to cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation. She believes that children’s skills, knowledge, and values flourish in a supportive yet challenging learning atmosphere which is created at Widewell. Her school’s DREAM values—Determined, Resilient, Enquiring, Aspirational, and Mindful—are at the heart of all of her endeavours, alongside the Trust’s motto, ‘Believe you can, together we will’.
