Martin Pollard

Martin retired in June 2022 having achieved almost 43 years’ experience as an engineer and commercial project director predominantly engaged on strategic change programmes and infrastructure delivery for Local and National Government. The programmes he has worked on include the Plymouth Schools Private Finance Initiative (PFI) which delivered Woodview Learning Community, Riverside, Chaucer, Shakespeare & Ernesettle schools. He also helped deliver the Waste PFI providing the energy from waste facility at Devonport. For the final 10 years of Martin’s career he was employed as a Programme Director at Local Partnerships (owned by the Treasury, Local Government Association and the Welsh Government). Martin performed several roles including as Defra’s representative for the South West on major waste infrastructure delivery and contract management; Key Strategic Delivery Partner for the Welsh Government’s Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy change programme and Review team member, similar to Ofsted function but in other sectors, undertaking assessments on council delivery effectiveness.
Martin has been a school governor/trustee for over 28 years and has been a Committee Chair at Ladygrove Primary School in Didcot, Oxfordshire; Woodford Primary; Heles; and the Westcounty Schools Trust.
